Notre Dame

The cathedral of Notre Dame. It stands allmighty over all, ruling the view from the zone it's located, a building made for man to admire and fear. Inside of this building, builted by the order of king Louis VII of France, there's a lot of hidden and explicit simbology that refers to religion and history. A various range of architects helped building it.

About the building, builted arround the XII century by a lot of architects, the style is definitely gothic mostly by the way light makes a tetric scenario, about the construction. The architecture of the building i think was symmetrical in the first plans, but then went asymmetrical because of all the structures added. The supports are basically pillars and pilasters, the archs are goth and the roof is apparently gabled and fan vaulting style, the wall (wich is masonry type) predominates over the oppenings, the material seems to be concrete and clay, some years later (1844), Eugené Viollet le Duc y Jean-Baptiste-Antoine Lassus participate in the reconstruction.

I decided to choose this building because I tought of it as the vision some architects had of god and Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, just another tribute to him and probably a way to earn his favor, by making all that mortals look small and defenseless at the sight of the imponent cathedral. That simple psychological efect is caused by pure art is at all undescriptible; the guys who builted it should have achieved that effect of god being the only one to be feared even before finishing the block.

Now, what is the relation with the cathedral of notre damme and the image I made?
I don't know what you'll think, but probably you'll say that there's no aparent relation between them. Mabye you'll think that I didn't really got inspired by the cathedral itself, but in some Death Metal band called Vader. I don't know, you tell me, but my answer it's simple: They are the same.

Why the same? Well, it's a bit crazy to be a concrete declaration, but what I mean is that the cathedral of Notre Dame is a construction inspired in something, (you might think of Mary or "the catholic mithology") and the image I made is also inspired in something.

The only diference is that I had a reality that is not open to interetation, because if you pay atention, you can see that the drawing is some kind of bizarre imitation of the dude with the gitar (actually, the dude with the guitar is Piotr Wiwczarek, vocals, guitar and apparently only stable member of the band), so in other words, the people who made the cathedral had it harder because they had to "fill in the blanks from nothing" to finish the building.

To cut the story, what that guys did to god, I did to Vader.
